Dr. Salvatore Callesano is an Assistant Professor of Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UIUC. His area of specialization in sociolinguistics, with a focus on bilingual communities in the U.S. He conducts quantitative and qualitative research on language perception, linguistic variation, and representations of bilingualism on social media. Dr. Callesano is a co-organizer of Project 16 of the Asociación de Lingüística y Filolgía de América Latina / Associação de Linguística e Filologia da América Latina, which focuses on linguistic questions in relation to the Latin America diaspora.
