"Deforestation and Pasture Degradation in Brazil"
Flávia is a PhD student in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics. Her broader research interests lie in conducting data-driven analyses on how to promote a sustainable balance between human needs and the preservation of natural resources. With that in mind, her current research project "Deforestation and Pasture Degradation in Brazil" focuses on the drivers of land-use decisions in Brazil, particularly regarding deforestation and pasture degradation in the Amazon and Cerrado biomes. By combining insights from field research with econometric methods, her research seeks to provide insights into the incentives and barriers that influence landowners’ decisions to restore degraded pastures versus clearing new land.
