Lemann Graduate Fellowship

Created by a gift from Jorge Paulo Leman, the Lemann Graduate Fellowship supports the work of graduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign conducting research on Brazil. The Lemann Fellowship provides support for one semester, one academic year, or one semester and a period of summer research in Brazil. Lemann Graduate Fellows will have tuition waivers from LAS units and other participating colleges and schools on campus. Werner Baer Fellowship

Created in memory of Werner Baer, renown economist of Brazilian development who taught at the University of Illinois, thanks to gifts from the family of Professor Baer’s sister, Marianne Kilby, and from Jorge Paulo Lemann, the Werner Baer Fellowship supports social scientific doctoral work on Brazil. The Werner Baer Fellowship provides support for incoming Brazilian doctoral students whose studies engage Brazil in the social sciences, and for doctoral students of any nationality and from any academic department conducting social scientific dissertation research on Brazil. Empower Brazil Fellowship

In partnership with the Lemann Foundation, the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, offers fellowships for Afro-Brazilians, indigenous Brazilians, and Brazilians with disabilities in select Master's degree programs. This Empower Brazil fellowship will increase diversity among Brazilian citizens in post-secondary studies abroad in order to make a positive social impact in Brazil. More information on applying for a Empower Brazil Fellowship, including application guidelines and eligibility requirements are available here
